WOW! There’s nothing like Stargate on the BIG screen. Yesterday, the show’s producers (minus Alan who was in Toronto and Carl who was in Los Angeles, both of him were, thus, subsequently fired) gathered at Sharpe Sound Studios in North Vancouver to watch the Ark of Truth mix. It took me about an hour to get there from my place and, by the time I rolled in, most everyone was there: Marty G., Alex Levine, Brad Wright, and Robert Cooper. Yep, almost everyone except my writing partner Paul who, interestingly enough, actually lives closer Sharpe than anyone else. Well, once he finally arrived, ten minutes after our agreed-upon meeting time, we were raring to go.
Now I’d love to go into detail about the movie but I have a feeling that Rob Cooper, who wrote and directed Ark of Truth and will be stopping in to do a special guest Q&A today, will probably kill me if I reveal any secrets. Suffice it to say, this is a movie that will richly reward longtime fans. As for yesterday's surround sound experience - another WOW goes out to Joel Goldsmith for an incredible score. He has truly outdone himself on this one.
Anyway, we sat back, took assiduous notes, and when the lights came up, tossed ’em Rob’s way: take down the sounds of the streaking ships, hit the jumping into and out of hyperspace a little stronger, and, oh yeah, lose the space crickets. And that was pretty much it. See you at the premiere!
Yet another in a long, loooong line of rainy days had the dogs in lounge-mode today, sprawled all over their mini-couches and each other. Every time I'd endeavor to bring them out - physically picking them up and placing them on the lawn - they would shake off the rain and bound back in. Having Lulu don her fashionable rain gear didn’t help any either. I can’t wait until the weather clears up… right around May of 2008.
Well, I have one chapter left of The Legacy of Heorot, Lord Fouls Bane (aka JM’s Bane), and Gene Wolfe’s Shadow of the Torturer, the first half of the first Book of the New Sun. (Anyone read the latter? If not, I would highly recommend it). Come Monday, I’ll be ready to weigh in to both of this month’s BOTM selections. Anybody else in?
Today's pics: Yesterday at Sharpe Sound, Lulu stylin' despite the weather.
Today's video: None.
Today's mailbag is brough to you courtesy of special guest answerer Robert C. Cooper:
Anonymous #1 writes: "Who had the fun of throwing dirt at Jason?"
RCC: Joe Flannigan who normally would head back to his trailer when not needed off-camera, stuck around to eagerly support his fellow actor. I’m going to get in trouble for that, aren’t I?
Promogirl writes: "I have to ask both to Joe and Robert, what was your favorite effect in this one? You certainly had several amazing ones to chose from."
RCC: The one I was most worried about turned out to be my second favorite and that is McKay being eaten by the whale. It’s not all that realistic looking but then it’s a giant alien killer whale in a nightmare after all and it sure looks cool. My favorite though is when Heightmeyer falls and we see it from her POV. Maybe I’ve missed it somewhere else but I don’t think I’ve see that shot before. You always get the person waving and screaming.
Joe: I agree on the Heightmeyer fall. As someone who is scared to death of heights (clowns, it turns out, are a close second followed by falling WITH a clown), it was extremely unsettling.
Pauline writes: "After watching Doppelganger I felt cheated. … The premise was a slight re-hash of Cold Lazarus …I kept feeling that the story could have held more scope for the actors and that ‘Bad Sheppard’ could have been utilised more to create the reaction he seemed to get from his victims, apart from leering menacingly at people. …I take it that when Sheppard was defibrillate at the end, that they meant just to administer an electric shock to his body. Because if they were trying to restart his heart they had the paddles a bit too low!!"
RCC: You say slight rehash I say evolution. Although, slight rehash is one of my favorite things to eat for breakfast. We often take elements from other episodes and build on them. If it results in a new story and a chance to put different characters in situations unique to them I think that’s worth doing. When we introduced a new Goa’uld on SG-1 people didn’t go ach! Again with this snake in people’s heads thing. (Okay some of you did, but not that many.) As far as the defibrillating not being high enough, Joe Flannigan didn’t want to take his shirt off. Something about causing too much squee? I didn’t get it myself but whatever.
Joe: You felt cheated? You're not going to ask for your money back, are you?
Waffle writes: "I am so very impressed with the quality of the episodes in Season 4. Everything just keeps getting better and better. Please pass on my highest regards to Mr. Cooper (and evderyone else for that matter) for giving us such an amazing episode."
RCC: I have passed on your compliments to our caterers Steve and Anthea. Without them, I assure you the quality of everything would suffer.
Anonymous #2 writes: "I expected more out of Rodney's dreams actually. After his encounters with the whale type animals before and then tonight's with the explanation of his Dad reading Moby Dick to him to explain his nightmares didn't seem to totally work for me. The scary clown was a nice touch."
RCC: To be honest, I wasn’t that happy with how Rodney’s dream sequence turned out. We were very limited by the rain towers and the horizon at the lake we were shooting at and the angles didn’t really work for me as much as I had hoped. David and Joe were troopers though, enduring freezing cold water on a brisk day. Mark Savela, our brilliant VFX supervisor saved the day … again… by enhancing the sequence digitally. I’m not sure what part of the McKay’s whale fetish not jiving with his childhood fear didn’t work for you but I think we all tend to be a little fascinated by the things that scare us most. For me it was sharks. Landsharks. A real shark could never get me because I don’t go in the ocean. Too many jellyfish.
Keirberos writes: "Coupla' questions: when Sheppard was fighting pseudo-Sheppard, who was Joe F fighting? Do you know what kind of effects were used for that; i.e., someone in a really good wig, or CGI-ing Flanigan's face over theirs, or what?
Oh, and— you guys really do hate doctors, don't you?"
RCC: Jeff Robinson did some awesome stunt fighting and threw himself around with reckless abandon as JF’s double. We did a lot of split screen work to double Joe. For the record I don’t hate doctors. I owe my life to quite a few different ones. And I actually have many in my family whom I care for a great deal.
Anonymous #3 writes: "Let's talk Arc of Truth. First, when do you think Arc of Truth might be released? Are you satisfied with the way the Ori are wrapped up or do you think it feels rushed? We know that Jack O'neill doesn't appear in Arc of Truth. Do you think that really makes sense given the scope of the story and the events that must happen? It's been confirmed that Morgan Le Fay will be making an appearance in the movie. Is there a chance that we'll see any other Ancients? Maybe even Oma? It's also been teased by Joe Mallozzi that we may even be seeing "an enemy we thought long vanquished" or some such. Could that maybe, hopefully be Anubis? Cause that would be cool. The interference of the Ori is one of the only plausible ways I can see the will of the Ancients regarding Anubis' and Oma's sentence( for lack of a better term)being subverted. Carter is also said to be a full colonel in both movies. Can you either confirm or deny the prevalent fan hope/dread that Mitchell will also be receiving a promotion in order to maintain the rather muddled status quo? Are there any other tidbits, spoilers, or teases that you'd be willing to share about Arc of Truth? And what about Continuum? Will you at least speculate on when we may get to see the movie? Are there more SG-1 movies being planned for next year? Is Richard Dean Anderson going to be in them?"
RCC: Wow, aren’t you full of questions. Okay… Right now the target for release of Ark (notice the ‘k’) in North America is March 11, 08. But don’t quote me. That could change. Sarah Strange is in the movie. I know a lot of people were disappointed that O’Neill doesn’t appear in Ark. The story didn’t really call for it and I didn’t want to wedge him in as I know you would have accused me of doing afterward. But in our tireless effort to please all the people all the time he is back in a big way in Continuum. As far as whether the story in Ark feels rushed, while I’m sure diehard fans would have like to see the beats play out over a whole season richly textured with detail … the trade off is that in one jam packed 90 minute movie you get a lot more impact as the big moments unfold. I hope.
Anonymous #4 writes: "I know it's an actor issue, but is there any chance that in future SG-1 movies you guys can get Chris Judge to cut his hair? Teal'c should be bald. In fact, hair in general on Stargate has been a problem lately, but Teal'c's hair is the worst."
RCC: I will forward your opinion promptly to Chris Judge. Anonymously.
Charles Schneider writes: "I can't believe I almost forgot to comment on the episode.
I love the eerie dreamscape mortal peril fell during the spooky month of the year. Did you know it would air in Oct.? Joe F. was great as evil Sheppard. Not only did he own the episode in a good way, the Sheppard battle scene at the end was great.
McKays 11th hour rescue of Sheppard was the icing on the cake. Very very suspensful, very awesome. Props to Coop for a masterful interweave of dream/reality sequences. Eventually I was just sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see a "twist".
Vfx were awesome. The Moby Dick references throughout were great, and the cg Moby Dick was perfect. I love the McKay boat scene. Bravo to all the writes, post production, cast, and crew members that had a hand in making this awesome episode!"
RCC: I can’t believe I almost forgot to say thank-you.
Micky writes: "Can't wait for the movies!! Will there be any trailers for them to tease us with??"
RCC: There will be trailers for Ark emerging shortly. I believe Fox intends to put them on other DVD releases prior to March.
Connor writes: "So, why keep every light on in Atlantis if they only have one (fastly depleting) ZPM?"
RCC: In a bid to prevent galactic climate change, Zelenka has been busy replacing all the light bulbs on Atlantis with low wattage fluorescents. Also, the city shots are often reused from other shows.
Anonymous #5 writes: "Thank you for a wonderful episode! This is my new favorite episode of all time! Season four is shaping up to be very exciting. Thank you also for the John and Teyla moments in this episode. They were beautiful. The hug was so touching. If it is not too much trouble, it would be great to hear RCC's thoughts on these moments."
RCC: Actually the “hug” scene continued and they went inside, sat down and talked a bit. Teyla tried to make Sheppard believe Heightmeyer’s death wasn’t his fault. I know you will hate me for cutting the scene now that I’ve told you it exists but sometimes a visual is enough. When you write a script you think the words are all that matters because you can’t see the pictures. When you see the pictures you realize there is nothing you can say that is more powerful so you might as well just shut-up. (I’m talking about me, the writer.)
Joe: Spoken like a true director.
Jedi writes: "Great job on Doppelganger Rob. Question for you...a friend of mine caught it early on ITunes and said that JF played 4 different roles in the episode, is this true?"
RCC: If you real look closely, in fact, Joe Flannigan is not just playing himself in this episode but his evil twin in everybody’s dreams as well as Teyla, Ronon, and the guy who hand’s Telya an AGR at one point. That was a complicated shot believe me. Hey, seriously, are you a real Jedi?
Tesajb writes: "LOVED tonight's episode. Probably my favorite yet this season!
The only thing I'm confused about is why the alien entity had such evil intentions. Unlike URGO, who just wanted to experience new things, this entity seemed bent on their destruction. But to what end?"
RCC: I have often wondered the same thing about jellyfish.
Anonymous #6 writes: "Doppelganger was amazing. I can't wait to see the rest of this season if this is how it's beginning!!!! After an epidode airs do you or any of your co-workers check out popular fan sites to check out the reactions? Which sites do you visit?"
RCC: Only one. The blog of one Joe Mallozzi but to be honest, that’s more to see what Joe has recently eaten. Oh yeah and sometimes Gateworld. I like to see what Darren’s been eating too.
Sarah writes: "Oh, Joe! I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to fangirl Robert Cooper now, because Doppelganger was the best thing ever! I think only dogs could hear the squeeing sounds that episode caused."
RCC: Thanks for fangirling me. I think. You know when I sat down to come up with an episode for this season I started as I usually do by saying to myself, what do people like? Easy answer! Joe Flannigan. What do people like more than Joe Flannigan? Two Joe Flannigans! Beating the crap out each other!!!! This show writes itself.
Alipeeps writes: "Actually - here's a question for Rob's Doppelganger Q&A: How did you film that scene where Ronon walked from an Atlantis corrdior into the forest?"
RCC: Mark Savela our brilliantly talented VFX supervisor sweated many buckets of bullets over this shot. And I owe a nod to Martin Wood who suggested the hand off. Basically what we did is shoot Jason both in the hall and then in the forest and blend the two shots seamlessly by adding a CG door/hallway to the top of the forest shot. The transition happens as we pan down to the door and Ronon is out of the frame for a mere blink of your eye.
How long did it take to film the Sheppard vs Sheppard fight scene?
RCC: It took roughly two days to shoot the fight. Fights and stunts take a long time to shoot but when the fight has to be shot twice it takes twice as long. (Math genius.) We would shoot one side with Joe. Then he’d change outfits and we’d shoot the other side.
Anonymous #7 writes: "A question though, if I may? If you had longer with the episode to explore more personnel's fears, what would we see for the likes of Zelenka and Carter?"
RCC: Strangely Zelenka has a mortal fear of both kittens and walnuts and Carter’s worst fear was already featured in Marty Gero’s Grace Under Pressure.
Primate-Studios writes: "Doppleganger was awesome! I was completely blown away. I'm still in shock. The episode was right up my ally. These first 4 episodes have been insanely awesome. The cast changes have definitely been for the better! And Joe Flanigan would be an awesome serial killer!"
RCC: Yes, I agree. Awesome. We’re talking on TV right?
Cheeky Lil Devil writes: "Thank you Mr M and Mr C the great episode, it's one of my favourites.. oh before I go, was that Joe flung off the balcony, or a stunt double? I had to wince at that. Great job all round, the choreography, the stunts, the story, and not to mention Evil Shep. *fans self*"
RCC: We used a new and very cool 3D flying rig for these stunts. It’s very precise and very safe allowing Joe Flannigan to actually do his own stunt for that scene.
Joe: By the way, one of my favorite outtakes is from this episode, specifically this scene. Director Rob yells action, Joe F. braces to get yanked and then, for some reason, the ratchet fails. Joe relaxes - at which point the ratchet kicks in and he is yanked - through the guard rail and across the room. The look of sudden terror on his face and the "Urk!" he utters as he is pulled up and away is priceless. Heh heh.
Anonymous #8 writes: "Hey Joe and perhaps your special guest! I am hoping you can breakdown the fears in each dream for us. There has been much debate over how to interpret what our teams fears are, so would love some insight into them. For example, is it true that Teyla's big fear is being in a relationship with Shep?"
RCC: I think her real fear is being misunderstood and not trusted…and having the life sucked out of her by the Wraith. And squirrels but that was too much to cram into one dream sequence.
Thank-you all for your positive thoughts. And thank-you to our gracious host for turning over his mailbag for the day. I must say, I hope everyone appreciates all the love, devotion and hard work Joe puts into his blog universe. I know I’m thankful because it keeps me from having to make conversation with Joe around the office. I already know everything that’s happened to him … and so much more.

Did Lulu's raincoat not come with hood and matching boots? She looks really cute, do the rest of the pack all have outfits too?
Can't yet comment on "Doppleganger" because I have yet to see it.
Thank you Rob Cooper - not only for being kind enough to do a guest commenter spot on Joe's blog and answer all our questions about Doppelganger, but also for making me laugh out loud several times! :D Joe - your reigning position as kind of snark may be under threat! :D

Eeep. Was this scene filmed or was it cut from the script prior to filming? I can definitely understand why it was cut - I think the scene worked well the way it was shown - but I still gotta ask... if it was filmed, any chance of including it in a deleted scenes feature on the Season 4 DVDs? Joe? Ivon? Anyone?Bueller?

Pleeeeaaaaaaaase tell me this is going to be on the blooper reel for the Season 4 DVDs! :D :D
P.S. Joe - Don't say I didn't warn you about Lord Foul's Bane during the voting process! :)
are you in fear of atlantis season 4 turning into firefly, cause eps have been showing up on the net before they even air on scifi. any thoughts?
Dustin
Thanks for the great insight in that particular episode. It was certainly a good one. It sounds like everyone who had a hand in this particular episode is especially proud of it and for good reason.
I am definitely looking forward to 'Ark of Truth'. Big SG1 fan here.
Are there any plans in the future for another series based on the Stargate universe? I'm hoping the Stargate franchise will be at least as big as Star Trek's, but better :)
1.Hi Joe, Can you explain in full(if u know) wtf? is going on between you and JF?(australia??) 2.Is there any chance we could see Sheppard, really, really, remorsful, or upset/crying, Col. Sumner's 5th year of being dead is coming up. no? 3. Who leeked the unfinished SGA- i need somewhere to send my 'Your not a bad person but i'm disappointed in you mail'?
Great idea to have a guest blogger. Zelenka's fears are kittens and walnuts! Why walnuts? How does he feel about almonds? Teyla's other fear is squirrels! Where would she have seen a squirrel? Please answer my question. Mr. Cooper said that Carter's fear was already featured in Grace Under Pressure. What is her fear exactly? Thanks!
THANKS GUYS!
Awesome Q&A you are spoiling us.
Ahahaha. ^_^ Yes, I know y'all don't actually hate doctors. But seriously, I'm a little worried, on Jewel Staite's behalf... And a little sad about losing Heightmeyer. But then, I never saw it coming, and I didn't feel cheated, so if there's a death... as far as TV shows go, I'd say it was a good presentation of such.
Maybe a day late, but I must agree— Doppelganger's my new favorite, hands down. For now, at least. :)
And Joe! Rub it in, why don't you, that you got to see the movie before all of us! ;D Ooooh, can't wait for '08... >_<
Hi Joe! Thanks for letting RCC take over and answer the questions, will you be doing that with the other writers for the rest of the season? And thanks for the image of JF being unwittingly flung from the balcony. Made my day :)
Wow, that was great! Thanks Joe and Robert!!! (for the Q&A)
And a huge thank you to Robert for Doppelganger! That was truly a wonderful episode. My sons and I enjoyed it greatly. I can't wait for my second and third viewing of it. (I seem to watch them 3 times...always 3...hmmm..I wonder why? Is it some strange cosmic sign, trying to tell me something about the number 3? *thinks about this quite intently* Nope! LOL)
It has given me many questions to ponder.
Why does Sheppard have a problem with hugging? He was very awkward with Teyla and didn't seem to know where to put his hands.
What kind of people were McKay's parents? His sister seems fairly normal...but they have really given McKay some phobias! (maybe just his dad...but where the heck was mom when dad was reading Moby Dick?) It would be nice to find out more about them.
Teyla must be worried that the Hive Queen was once in her mind, as the doppelganger quickly grabbed onto that! She obviously has some Sheppard issues, Freudian ones? Very interesting that Ronon said she was seeing Sheppard and Sheppard came in and wraithed her. It first looked like he was going to kiss her like the last time he was turning into an eratus bug type being, and then...whammy...he started sucking the life out of her.
Poor Ronon, he has abandonment issues! Since most of his Satedans are dead and then his trusted friends betrayed him, he obviously is worried his Atlantis friends are next!
Ok...not all were questions...some were just ramblings of my mind!
Again, great show!!!

Three o' clock in the morning here in good ol' South Africa. We won the Rugby World Cup and the beeping of car horns hasn't stopped yet and the match ended hours ago...
Thanks to Robert Cooper. I had to carefully ignore some of the comments seeing as we haven't seen the new season here yet, but Mr. Cooper seems quite a fun guy. Is it a laugh-a-minute workplace when you're not stressed out and on a tight deadline?
RCC: "Strangely Zelenka has a mortal fear of both kittens and walnuts and Carter’s worst fear was already featured in Marty Gero’s Grace Under Pressure."
you mean mckay's sam worst fear? :p
in all seriousness, i could see sam... in her dream, she finds everyone dead. she's failed them! then evilsheppard comes to her and says, 'you're not up to leading atlantis. you failed them. you killed them.' then sam finds one of them still alive (maybe keller or ronan), and he/she says, 'you failed us, colonel carter. you failed!!' sam tries to wake up the others, hoping they're alive too, but... it's lorne that suddenly appears to her with his anti rep gun, and he points the gun right at her face, and then... the scene suddenly goes to sam waking up, gasping for air and touching her forehead, where lorne was going to shoot her.
ooh, this came out longer than i was expecting. :p (i felt inspired)

"The story didn’t really call for it and I didn’t want to wedge him in as I know you would have accused me of doing afterward."
We both know that the folks who would descry the move as "wedging him in" are far, far outweighed by folks who would jump for joy at his inclusion. It's an awfully strange notion to think that Jack O'neill doesn't fit in a stargate story. And it's not true. The Shroud was easily the most successful and entertaining episode in seasons nine and ten, and we both know why. Jack O'neill seemed in no way cursory to that story at all, a story which shares every single one of its elements with Ark of Truth.
I couldn't disagree with you more on the idea that Jack is unnecessary, and all of those viewers that have given up on the show think otherwise as well.

Hi Joe, could you please pass on a thank you from me to Robert C. Cooper for the Doppleganger Q&A? Very interesting stuff, and I think I'll laugh every time I hear the words "jellyfish" or "Landshark" from now on.
Sounds like your dogs are having a cosy time with all the rain around. And if they don't want to go outside, at least you won't have muddy paw prints all over the place, right?

Isn't it just so cool. It must be a first.. To have this must contact with the actual writers of this great show is so so great. Through your blog we get to know the writers the directors the music people the set up people in a way unique to any other show. when we see the names roll up at the end it's like we know you guys and it gives us a special thrill.. And having the great Rob Cooper on your blog .. well I think you have really outdone your self.. I think this blog is such an asset to the show.. Just my thoughts.. Thanks Rob and Take care
Dori
Ps really looking forward to the ark of truth..
Mr. Coop, perhaps you should learn to spell your lead's last name. I'm sure there was nothing subliminal intended there. :)
The thing with Rodney and whales is we've seen him name a whale Sam, and be saved by a whale in Grace Under Pressure so it was sort of strange to see him suddenly fear them. But, a minor point.
Thanks so much for visiting the blog and for a great episode. I loved seeing the friendships. Oh, and the great new cafeteria by the sea nearly stole the show!
Thanks for lending your blog for a day, Joe. :)
I can't believe I missed out on contributing a question to the Q&A with Mr. Copper!
I enjoyed Doppleganger... though Reunion is still my favorite of the season. I liked the way McKay's dream sequence looked like...before the CG whale ate him. :)
Assuming you get a season 5, do you think you will do a story that(for lack of a better word) honors Col. Sumner?? What do you think Sheppards reaction would be if, he went to an AU and found Sumner, Weir, Beckett, and Ford?? Could we be seeing an AU in season 5??
Who would be easier to bring back production wise using the original actors out of Sumner, Weir, Ford??
That's great of Rob to come by and answer all our questions. Who do you think you'll ask next to swing by the blogosphere for a celebrity guest-star Q&As/commentary?
Do you think we'll get to see some of the material that didn't make the cut for Doppelganger? I know you've mentioned that we can look forward to more "cutting-room-floor" theatre for your s4 episodes.
I was the one who made the comments about Rodney's dream and it not working for me. Later tonight after kid is in bed I'll watch it again, but after reading about not being satisfied with the look of the scene...here is what I think...
Perhaps having more than just one whale...like several circling the boat, but if one wanted to remain in keeping with Moby Dick I can understand only having one whale. I didn't think the whale was all that scary looking, but I'm not Rodney either :)
I think it would have looked better being more ominous such as at night or darker clouds, the whale bumping the boat and other little things to further frighten Rodney while he's paddling.
Still a good episode regardless of my opinion about this small bit, but perhaps rewatching this one and the other 'whale-type' encounter episodes will help my understanding better.
I'm very grateful my question was answered. Thanks so much for this. It really is great to have this kind of interaction over our favorite show even if we all don't agree.

Yes I am a real Jedi but I guess I should have made it more clear. As I meant for the 4 different roles were: John, Evil John, Conversion John and the Clown in the boat.
Dear Joe,
I thank you for sharing your blog space with Mr. Cooper. Insight into the most excellent show aired is priceless and very much appreciated. I enjoy these insights and of course, am a faithful reader.
There are times when seeing other peoples fears allows us to forget our own. This was one of those times for me. For that, I'm thankful.
Blessings,

Hey Joe, I'm not sure if you've been asked this much. (Probably have, but not that I've seen in couple of months I've been reading your blog) is there any word at all on how far behind the US the UK or region 2 The Ark of Truth DVD would be released? Or any inkling as to if they'd wait very long for it compared to a region 1 release? As there are a lot of eager fans over here :)
Also good work on Doppelganger for you and Rob, was a good episode. I feel Keller is really fitting in...
Do any of the cast, writers or producers ever listen to each others' DVD commentaries? I noticed Martin Gero in particular likes to heckle those not present when he does commentaries, and I just wondered how much gets back to the others. Martin's commentaries are by far the best of the bunch on the season 3 DVDs, by the way--you can tell him I said that.
And thanks to RCC for his guest-blogging. Fun stuff! Maybe you could get Martin to do that sometime. I've given up harassing him to blog on his MySpace page, so maybe you could take that over for me.
Hey Joe.
I should've asked this a couple of weeks back... You know outside the studios on the sign they have "Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis and Dead Like Me"... is Dead Like Me still being made, or have they just not bothered to change the sign? :)
PS. It's my mum's and my sister's birthday today (21st)... any chance of a dedication? :)
J.K. Rowling just announced on Friday that Dumbledore is gay. Thoughts on the matter? Thinking of making any character on SGA homosexual?
Seems season 4 is right on track, kudos to all, particularly liked the clown in a rowboat moment highly gigglesome....belated happy birthday, been all of a tiswas lately, but hopefully the inner moppet has now found zen. It's even sunny outside, not a cloud in the sky, positivly charming in fact, in Oct?....in the UK?.....how's the cloud formations across the pond? ;-)
Why was Jack referred to as Colonel O'Neill instead of General O'Neill? Did he get seriously demoted?
Joe: "By the way, one of my favorite outtakes is from this episode, specifically this scene. Director Rob yells action, Joe F. braces to get yanked and then, for some reason, the ratchet fails. Oh, good lord, you made me snort cabernet out my nose! Ow. Please tell me that this scene will make the outtakes/bloopers section of the season four DVDs? *crosses fingers*
Also, I really enjoyed "Doppelganger" despite the fact that you folks've killed off yet another Doctor (I think three's got to be a record for any franchise). This is definitely the best 'team' episode yet and I particularly loved that last scene where they all congregate in the mess hall to commiserate and decompress. Nicely done, that.
Loved your blog entry...
The fourth episode has not aired yet here in Canada.. So I had to skip that Q & A's so save myself from spoilers... DIDN't work LOL i kept peaking and found one comment about an untimely death.. :(
Will RCC be back to answer more questiong as they come up?? I'm not doubting you ansering abilities I know your awesome but we rarely get this kind of face time with Rob.
Well can't wait to see the episode now only 39H and 20min till it airs... :)
Joe, a big thanks to both you and Mr. Cooper for answering all our questions. I have to agree with you both about the fall. That shot gave me the willies.
I was surprised, however, that you didn't mention the bug crawling out of Teyla. That was disgustingly effective. :-)
Why do they rely on ZPMs? They could have wave power.
Wow, thanks to both of you for those interesting comments. I have to touch on one thing someone said:
"Oh, and— you guys really do hate doctors, don't you?"
My husband and I were talking about this earlier today. He asked why Heightmeyer had to die. My response was that she was a doctor, and the doctors must die. Janet, Carson, now her. How long until Keller bites the dust?
Though, seriously, in something like this, what is the reasoning to kill recurring characters, not the usual red-shirts, off?
Ah man!! That post was amazing!! Thanks so much to Robert Cooper for taking the time and to you Joe for bringing him in!! That was great.
Oh, and you did say that scene was JoeF being taken by surprise was going to be on the DVD, right *wink wink.*
And how evil was that of JoeF!!! He is such a darn tease! That man knows what we want and won't give it to us!! But, I will admit, it keeps me wanting more.
So thanks again to both of you, and for my question:
For Tabula Rasa (awesome name by the way. Studying John Locke now.) Will it be a more humorous episode, or more angsty and serious?
Thaaaanks.
Hey! Word has hit the web, courtesy of JFlan at a New Zealand convention, that Rachel Luttrell gave birth to a little boy two days ago. I was hoping you were in the know and could pass along the name of her little bundle of joy.
I know I’m thankful because it keeps me from having to make conversation with Joe around the office. I already know everything that’s happened to him … and so much more.
What kind of bribe would tempt Mr. Cooper to tell all?
That was a very cool Q&A session. That's not to put the ordinary ones down though, Joe. I know there's not much chance of this being answered if RCC doesn't even have a firm release date for the Ark of Truth in North America yet, but will the release date in Australasia (specifically New Zealand) be around the same time? I'm already getting sick of waiting for season 4 SGA. Waiting for the Ark of Truth would be too much.
Please don’t say that was the world premier of Ark of Truth!
Where are the celebrities plucked, pampered and polished gliding down the ubiquitous red carpet?
Gowns by Versace and Valentino, gone in favour of well worn genes and shirts.
That lets admit you’ve all had in the back of the wardrobe and never quite gotten around to throwing out.
And the gastronomic delights of the veritable ‘no expense banquet’ of muffins and pastries washed down with coffee and cola.
Yeah who needs bottles of Dom Perignon and Taittinger say no to lobster and caviar lets strike a cord for the common man.
No really it looks as if you all enjoyed the screening.
Many thanks to you and Rob Copper for replying to my comment with finesse.
Pauline
Thanks Joe for letting Rob hijack your blog for a bit, I really enjoyed reading all of that. Also, thanks to Rob for fiving us two Joe Flanigans - note the spelling of 'Flanigan' Mr Cooper :P - in DG. One of the best episodes I've ever seen. Loving the jungle too, will we be seeing other varied climates this season? (During off-world visits I mean, not what you have in store for the season finale - which, by the way, I can't wait to see).
Loved Doppleganger last night:)
Also, I was just curious, do you know the lyrics to the Atlantis theme song- the chorus in the background near the end of the opening song?
Hope you're doing well:)
Please no more mentions of the Boks winning the RWC on this blog. Too painful for an All Blacks fan to read after having watched the game (although in all fairness I cheered the Boks on over the English).
Will the team be exploring Atlantis' new Homeworld in any upcoming episodes?
Also, I was watching 'The Return - Part One' on DVD and in the commentary track the subject of Seamless and Commercial broadcast versions was brought up. Are there any real differences between the seamless versions and the versions with commercial cuts? Any extra scenes or anything like that?
hey joe can you do me a HUGE favor and pass on congrats to Andy Mikita on his wonderful direction over on the Blood Ties' episode from last night! It was amazing(i haven't seen doppleganger so i can't comment). Love Lulu's raincoat by the way!
That RCC guest commentary was made of awesome! Will you let Marty G., Paul and Carl take a turn doing it too?
I just wanted to say how amazing it is that you answer questions every day! How many TV producers take time out of their day to answer questions from viewers? I know you get a lot of flack from some fans for killing off characters, or somehow not making the show EXACTLY how they want (and it's probably because you're so accessable)... but, seriously, I can't think of anyone else in your position who is so generous with his time.
So, thanks! It's appreciated.
Oh... and Doppleganger was great! One question though... even though I seem to have missed the boat...
Sheppard says to Teyla that he was meaning to go talk to her, almost sort of contrite like she was probably expecting him to. Now, I haven't been watching long, so maybe I've missed something... but is there any backstory to that line? I understand they're friends, but it just seemed quite personal and I was a bit confused...
While watching "Doppleganger" I was seriously jealous of their balcony balcony/patio seating/eating area. Awesome. But then I wondered if Atlantis had seasons. Does it? Will it eventually get too cold/typhoony for them to sit outside? Perhaps that area has a retracting roof?
Hi Joe:
Thanks to you and Robert for the insight into the making of Doppelganger. It really is incredible how much effort and sheer hard work goes into creating 40 minutes of entertainment.
You mentioned that we would never see an episode with a Christmas sequence. What about a birthday party? How would Ronon and Teyla react to balloons and cake?
Did you hear that Richard Dean Anderson will be at Gatecon in Vancouver in August? Will you be able to drop by to say hello?
Patricia
To Rob:
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer so many questions. "Doppelganger" was great. I can not tell you how much I'm looking forward to "Ark of Truth". March 11th isn't that far off, and it's great to finally have a date. Some fans that went to Comic Con and saw the previews said that we would get some good Daniel whumping. THANK YOU! I hope Joe remembered that hug that I asked him to give you after I found out about the Daniel whumping. If not, he owes you one. I'd also like to thank you for all of the great SG1 episodes that you have given us from "Torment of Tantulus" thru "Unending". And as far as "The Shroud" and "Unending" go..... I think I Love you! ((hugs))
To Joe:
Thanks for letting Rob take over your blog today. Love the pictures. Enjoy the rest of your weekend Joe. Can't wait to hear about a season 5.
P.S. When Rob isn't looking, feel free to give as many details as possible about the "Ark of Truth". I'm sure Rob won't mind. (g)
Thank you Rob Cooper and Joe for answering the awesome questions. It was mentioned that Kate's dreams was about clowns?
I have a question on some of the dreams if you don't mind breaking them down. Kate's: You see her afraid and on the edge of the balcony, but you never show why, but you show Teyla trying to rescue her and EvilJohn stopping her. Was her fear heights or was some stuff cut out?
Teyla's dream was great btw. I was hoping you can go deeper into that and explain more on her dream. There was so much in a short time. Her having dinner with John, Ronon's comment, EvilJohn trying to make her insecure and then BuggyJohn comes in and she totally freezes.
Oh and one more please. Was John's lucky shot to Ronon really lucky or a set up?
I saw Jewel's interview on Scifi and that's why I'm asking. lol
Thank you.
Great blog today. And....
Um,whales don't eat people. Most whales don't even have TEETH! And squirrels! They've never even had squirrels on the show! Where would Teyla have seen them?!
P.S. Zelenka and walnuts...is it just walnuts,or does he have issues with pecans/cashews/peanuts(which aren't actually nuts)/almonds too? And if he doesn't like kittens...how about puppies? Hedgehogs? Goldfish?
Thanks!
Cool blog. Have you ever seen High School Musical 2? Or heard the song 'I Don't Dance'? And what are the odds of there being a very goofy Stargate Atlantis music video (like made of bloopers and clips from the show) in the special features for the season four DVDs?
Alright, Joe. So you came through for us and got Rob Cooper to do a great little Q and A with us. Is there any chance you can work the ultimate miracle and get Brad Wright to do a small guest appearance to talk a little bit about Continuum? I'm not asking for big spoilers, just a little tease. How about it?
If we want to send something to one of the main actors, would it still get to them if we send it to the studios? (even though they are on hiatus) If so, what is the studio address? (sorry, I know this was asked a while ago...but since time has passed I wondered if they would still be able to recieve things)
The blog was great! How many dogs do you have? Is there going to be any singing in season four/five? Thanks!
hi, joe,
after reading spoilers, do the events in 'the seer' have any repercussions in/for 'the last man'?
sally :)
My name is Aurora and I have been reading this blog for a number of months and have loved every minute but I had a sad occurrence today I wanted to share.
My mum passed away at home from a heart attack today. It was very sudden and unexpected.
I just want everyone to either Hug their Mums and tell them how much they love them or remember that special something that always makes you remember you Mum.
Please cherish them as they maybe gone in an instant and they can never be replaced in our hearts.
Aurora
After the name of the fourth India Jones title was released (Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) it suddenly reminded me of a stargate episode involving Daniel's grandfather(Season 3, Crystal Skull). What did you think of this info when you saw it?
Will the outtake you described (Joe F. taken by surprise), be on the S4 DVD's?
LOL! I guess I can conclude my cat is a braver soul than your dogs! He willfully ventures into the rain without me shoving him out the door!
..I've managed to sneak in some internet access at my friends house during the weekend remodel. Muahah!
It's going well, thanks for asking. =9
We're in demo mode. The day was spent tearing out walls, pulverizing old bathroom vanities, and surgically removing a non-functional brick fire vent.
If I were an angry person I suppose the amount of demo I did today would have me very ZEN right now. =9.
“I think her real fear is being misunderstood and not trusted…and having the life sucked out of her by the Wraith.”(RCC). That first half there, was Rob really talking about Teyla’s fears or was he talking about the TPTB’s fears in relation to the fans? ;) Okay I lie, maybe it’s the second bit too.
Thanks JM and special quest Rob, for all this ep insight of late. It’s almost better than an audio commentary on a DVD. It’s almost like an interactive ep commentary. Joe, I am eagerly anticipating the potential for some TMC insight almost as much as I am anticipating that particular ep. [I'm just assuming here that there might be some, since that is/was one of yours. No pressure.]
Thanks RCC for taking the time to comment on yet another wonderful ep. It’s been really interesting. Though, I will admit that secretly I’ve always harboured the notion that McKay’s greatest fear was to be nibbled to death by rabid space squirrels, but maybe that’s just me.
Darn, I miss the Q&A. Ah well, having not seen the episode probably put me at a disadventage anyway.
But...now that I have, you can pass on to Rob that I (like many others) thought it was AWESOME. All of my thoughts are here in my little(!) review. Overall, I thought Rob did a great job as both the writer and the director, and Joe Flanigan was spectacular as Evil Shep (and our Shep, of course).
Well done, very well done. You have satisfied this fan beyond a shadow of a doubt with this new season, and I reckon it can only get better from here!
Hi Joe !
I wondering if you have any idea for the season five ?
Joe, any chance you'd reveal which ep the Ronon/Keller shippy moment is in? :D
And anonymous, I'd guess Zelenka dislikes goldfish, seeing as David N gave some to Joe ;)
Any chance we'll get a love interest for Ronon?
I'm dying to see that kind of depth added to this enigmatic character.
Hi Joe
news has spread that Rachel had a Son and i wanted to ask the next time you see Rachel could you pass along our Congratulations from everyone in the Rachel Teyla WOW thread on the Gateworld Forum please and thanks.
Thanks for the great insight. One comment, when realizing the fans want Joe F..... we also really want the squee!
Second any chance for a hint, moment, thought, anything at all for Jack and Sam in the movie? We've got the picture...more please.
Thanks to Robert Cooper for answering all these questions. And thanks to you, Joe for letting him take over your blog! ;)
I loved Doppelganger! (and no, it's not only because we got to see Sheppard shirtless or wet... :P) Kudos to all the cast and crew for this great episode!
" And squirrels but that was too much to cram into one dream sequence."
You're not talking about David Hewlett's fans are you ?^^
Good to know you're reading the blog Rob, because I wanted to tell you how absolutely awed I am at what a great director you've become. You were always my favourite SG writer anyway :) and it must be really satisfying to take a script you've written yourself all the way the final product.
I loved Unending beyond all reason and Doppelganger was great too, the dream sequences were amazing! My only quibble was that I'd really rather still have Elizabeth there than Carter, especially in an episode like this which was so much about the bonds the Atlantis team have formed. Carter just didn't belong and has never been a very empathic character anyway.
Great to hear Ark of Truth is on it's way - I can't wait to see what you've done with more time, more budget and 35mm film. It must have been like a making a real cinematic release.
Really looking forward to any news you may be able to pass on to Joe about the 3rd series or another SG1 movie, too. Thanks so much for dropping by!
'Doppelganger' was the weakest SGA episode to date. What's with the weak writing and shoving Keller into every single situation? And the subtle ending, where Keller is a generally accepted part of the gang, even though Zelenka has been there from the beginning, but I guess is not good-looking enough to join that table? And what's with killing off Dr. Heightmeyer? Who's next? Zelenka? Lorne?
stargate! its a great big family! its truly amazing how involved you are with your fans, and the fans with you. i think its changed the way other producers/writers/casts interact with their fans.
season 4 is just killing me. waiting every week for a new ep is excruciating (esp. now in research and exam time). the fx dept should be commended on their visualisations. could i come work with them when i graduate? ill pay you.
doppleganger was great. i think the rodney/shepperd saving each other dynamic is well executed. much like a crane/shore male relationship. its terrific.
two more questions.
1. are there lyrics to the theme song for atlantis? id love to hear you guys do that.
2. ark (with the K). how will you account for carter b/w atlantis/sg-1?
I thought that the Teyla/John scene should have been reversed. Teyla should have been in her room and John should have been at the door. He should have said his line and then she hugs him.
The part of the scene that Robert C. Cooper said was cut out I felt was needed. The hug just came across as one sided. Teyla needed it and John did not really want to touch her.
It just came across to me as desperate and not caring.
Hi Joe,
Thank you for having your blog open for fans and for answering questions.
I was wondering, after "Unending" did any of the Asgard survive? Hermiod for instance? (If I’m allowed to know ;-))
Are we going to hear from or see the Nox or Furlings in a possible season 5? Or perhaps meet some technology left behind from their "ancient" Alliance?
Is there a chance that the deleted scenes will be included in the Season 4 DVD set?
I really, really hope they will be on the DVD and some funny bloopers as well. It would really brighten my day!
I wish you the best of luck and a renewal for season 5.
Ps. And thanks to Robert Cooper for letting us know about the deleted “hug” scene in Doppelganger. It’s a pity it didn’t make the cut.
I understand that Scifi is suppose to be a male genre. There are many female scifi fans.
I just feel that the writers don't make a lot of effort to write for us. We appreciate the action and adventure but what about character interactions and relationship enrichment?
Based on Doppelganger, Teyla and Kate had a deep friendship. I never saw it. Teyla went to Kate for Professional help. Where was the friendship?
In Sunday, Teyla and Dr. Hewston were friends. When? That was never shown until that episode. BTW, I enjoyed the downtime in Sunday.
Teyla and John "seem" to have a deep friendship due to fact that she chose John over any of her "other" friends to share her grief with.
Their friendship is not really shown. They don't have bantos practice anymore. We hear about their conversation together but we are not allowed to see those conversations. They really don't have any alone time to just bond as friends.
Can I hope for deeper character interactions and relationship enrichment this season?
Who played the clown?
THANKS Robert C. Cooper!!!!!!!
Haha, JF too afraid to take his shirt off for fear of "squee" -- that's great; thank you Mr. Cooper :) But does this mean no more scenes like in 38 Minutes in the back of the jumper? Please say it ain't so!
As for DG, excellent, excellent episode. Start to finish no complaints and far too many compliments. Since most of them have been said, I'll just add that Atlantis at night is looking absolutely gorgeous. Hats off the SFX team for creating a truly beatiful city.
On another note, I think JF has hit new acting heights this season, specifically in "Adrift," in the scene with Keller when he finds out Weir is probably going to die (I actually thought we might see Sheppard cry there -- beautiful expressions), and in "Lifeline," when he's trying to get Rodney to shut up and stay in the jumper with Weir. I got the sense Sheppard was this close to throttling McKay for making anyone say the words, "Because you might have to kill her."
Also in DG, I really believed Sheppard might have just given up and died if McKay hadn't shown up alive and well in the 11th hour. Excellent wrting, and some great insight into Sheppard's psyche throughout this ep.
Anyone else realize, though, that the good Colonel really is racking up quite a body/lost team member count?
One question if I may: what was JF's reaction to getting the script for DG and seeing all the evil/twisted things he was supposed to do?
oh, meant to ask: who can we credit for playing the evil clown? Definitely one of the best characters on the show...and he didn't really do anything :)
Thank you so much for that Q&A RCC! Also, thanks to Joe Mollozzi for making it possible. Making it possible for the audience to recieve this kind of insight into an episode's evolution and creation is ytet another reason the 'Gates are so unique.
Quick question for Mr. Mollozzi: what's your worst nightmare? I hope it doesn't involve lemon chicken ;)
Thanks,
Royal
RCC: ... Carter’s worst fear was already featured in Marty Gero’s Grace Under Pressure.
I have to ask--would that be a fear of drowning, confined spaces, or being stuck in a confined with Rodney?
SALUT JOE
j'ai entendu que torri hingisson serait en negociation pour reprendre son role dans la saison 5 en tant que personnage reccurant, est ce que c'est vrai? Ce serai vraimant une tres tres bonne nouvelle pour les fans de la série.
I absolutely LOVED Doppleganger. I really loved the hug scene. I think it really worked.
So, I've been hearing whispers of a Sheppard/ Teyla fall apart.
A penny for your thoughts?
I really like the chemistry between them, and I would be really upset if they had a mindblowingly horrible fude.
*waves*
Ive gone off on one again... but in my defence, I did say that I was a bit exciteable with this ep, lol. Evil Shep! *squeeeeeeee*
"Mr C says: As far as the defibrillating not being high enough, Joe Flannigan didn’t want to take his shirt off. Something about causing too much squee? I didn’t get it myself but whatever."
I've responded in the only way I know how. ;)
Mr M and Mr C,
thank you lots for making me squee,
I know that we didn’t, get to see a scene with shirtless Shep,
But at least we got, to see him whumpy and wet.
So, there’s plenty of time, as I’m still on my quest,
And will hopefully one day get a glimpse of Sheppard’s chest.
Please pass on my hugs to the kindhearted Mr F,
For worrying about the fangirls, and at seeing his manly chest,
But, tell him not to worry, adore the scene we will,
and to just rip the shirt from off his chest, to give us all a thrill. ;)
You could always say to Mr F,
It’s what you want to see,
And by putting it in, to your wonderful script,
He’d certainly have to agree. ;)
For we love our fangirl moments,
and can’t wait to see that air,
And if it helps with that certain scene,
tell him it shows that Shep does care. :P
But if it helps to have him whumped some more,
A cut on his chest would have me squeeing for more.
So Mr M and Mr C,
I bid you both adieu,
And hope that we will have eps like this,
For the whole of season 4.
If I may be cheeky and ask,
Is there any chance that we will see,
The outtake of Joe, flying off the balcony.
As I know it will a favourite, with the fans of season 4,
And will have the fan girls squeeing, and wanting so much more.
Thank you for all the great stuff, it's much appreciated.
And before I go. :D
"RCC: We used a new and very cool 3D flying rig for these stunts.
Heh heh."
Laughing at your colleagues misfortune again are we Joe?! Good to see you back to being your old self! ;)
So will this new 3D ratchet allow for others to do more of their own stunts like this? And will Ivon put that yummy onto the outtakes season 4 DVD. I loved that Joe did his own stunt, but oh my goodness that thump as he lands on the floor. *ouch* Or was that just sound effects?
*hugs*

Well, I have one chapter left of The Legacy of Heorot, Lord Fouls Bane (aka JM’s Bane), and Gene Wolfe’s Shadow of the Torturer, the first half of the first Book of the New Sun. I'm in.

Hey Joe, just have a short question for you. There are a few people who think that the infirmary scene early in the episode was a set up that John and Ronon had concocted in order for Ronon and Keller to get some time together. Is there any truth to this, or was it just a straight forward medical treatment scene.
For the ice cream/sorbet lover in you,
Have you tried any of the haagen dazs reserve flavor?
Brazilian açai berry sorbet
Amazon Valley Chocolate
Pomegranate Chip
Hawaiian Lehua honey & sweet cream
Toasted coconut sesame brittle
Pomegranate & dark Chocolate Bar
Saw them and thought uh! deliciouse!
and who do this remind me of??
ah! Mallozzi ! LOL
Doppleganger was fantastic! I want to see it again, especially to listen closer to the music (speaking of which, I can't want to see Ark of Truth and this fantastic score from Joel!)
Thumbs up: Keller character development, sexy sleepwalking Lorne, wet Rodney = yum! Tender Teyla/John moments. over all a great and exciting episode, loved it!
Thumbs Down: Rodney's fear of whales to me really doesn't seem to fit with Echoes, I mean, if he's afraid of them, why was he so excitedly researching them?
next: So Rodney is dreaming about Carter even tho he's "seeing someone else"? But then, that's just as confusing to be as Rodney saying to Weir "you love me" and two episodes later almost proposing to Katie?! I'm so confused.
And my last thumbs down is Kate's death. I mean, she was a really developed character! Who's next one your to-kill-off list? Keller? because we don't want to let anyone in the medical profession live very long? How about Lorne? Zelenka? I know either Ellis or Caldwell is gonna die, they're in a bad line of work (I loved Emerson, Chekov and Pendergast!) How about Katie? Chuck? Kavanaugh? Bates? Are you going to kill off Dr. Lee when you bring him over one time?? (ohno!) what about Walter? is he safe? Will he still be able to go home to his wife and kids I'm convinced he has?? (whoah, that was off topic)...
*sigh* sorry, end of rant.
i've been wondering about something:
is there an actor you like to have guest on a future SGA episode?
*crosses fingers for season 5*
BTW i'm the second question (along with wraithfodder) on Jewel Staite's Q & A vid on sci-fi wire. she said my name wrong and called our names "creepy" *blah*
hi joe -
great idea to have rc in for a guest spot! and re: rob's comments on ark of truth....i'm rather disappointed that the run time is only 90 min. - when it was announced that two movies would be made i naturally assumed that they would run approx 2 hrs (like most movies). why the shorter running time????
1)Will self sacrifice continue to be a major theme in season four?
2)Will any long lasting grudges be held this season?
Could you tell us when the halloween party is, and if you will be taking pictures and posting them for us?
Just wanted to say thank you to Rob for stopping by and sharing his thoughts on the episode. Always interesting to hear what the writers originally intended, what made the cut, what didn't.
I have to say I agree with the poster who said that the notion that Jack O'Neill would be wedged into a Stargate story is bizarre. Understand that the Ori action has never revolved around O'Neill given his absence in the past years but the story set up you guys have put on screen is that man is supposed to be a general with some sway still in the Stargate programme...surely it wouldn't have taken too much imagination to have found someway to have included him even just for a cameo? In fact, isn't it more contrived that the events of the movie happen without any reference to O'Neill? And honestly, from a business perspective, having Jack make an appearance would have got you more sales of the DVD.

Thanks!
probably rodney...
Thank you Rob C. for the guest blog. The insertion of the clown into Rodney's Moby Dick fear was laugh out loud funny. Who thought up that particular little gem?
So, I've been hearing whispers of a Sheppard/ Teyla fall apart.
I really like the chemistry between them
What chemistry?
Remind me to not drink anything while reading your journal. Not that I was, but it sounded better than 'remind me to continue not to drink anything while reading your journal', or 'gosh, would my monitor be covered in coffee/tea/meths, if I had been drinking while reading the hilariousness that is your journal'. Or, erm, something.
Doppelganger easily vaulted into being one of my favourite episodes. Fantastic job on everyone's parts. Especially the caterers.
Also you should think about propping the flame thrower up in the corner of your office during pay negotiations - you could save a small fortune.
Couple of questions if you dont mind me asking...1) are any sevret romances revealed in season 4? 2) If Atlantis is picked up for a 5 season will Dr. Weir be in charge again? (not that I have anything against Carter running things but...the show feels better with Dr. Weir). 3) Is there any chance we see anymore Ancients in Pegasus?
4) Any new ships like the Apollo coming to Pegasus? Finally 5) Is Michael going to be in Season 4???
I'm still on for the BOTM thing!
I've finished Legacy of Heorot, which I mostly enjoyed except for a few quibbles (Alien's Ripley makes a MUCH better hero than Weyland, and Niven and co. really need to learn to write women characters who are not there just for the romance, or to boast about the greatness of the lead protagonist).
Lord Foul's Bane is, er, proceeding in a more leisurely manner. (I briefly gave up reading after I got to page 100 a week or so ago, but am trying very hard to get back into the book. Thomas is not the most pleasant of characters, and the Land--sheesh! Have these people never heard of contractions? The dialogue is so stilted and unnatural. And the poetry...I need to stop now, or I'll talk myself out of finishing this book).
Look forward to your comments!
Hi Joe,
my question is to RCC: if MGM greenlights another SG-1 movie, is there a chance for a further exploration of Vala's character and her relationship with Daniel? 'cause these two are the real future of Stargate :))) I can hardly wait to see The Ark of Truth :)
Any chance of a simultaneous release of The Ark of Truth? We want to see it in Australia at the same time as everyone else.
Can't wait for Season 4 of Atlantis and Dopppelganger. Two Sheps, yay! Also I hear there's a very cool Lorne scene. Thanks very much.
Cheers, Chevron7
